the colonial theatre : 1961

held at the colonial theatre (where scenes from the 1958 classic “the blob” were filmed) phoenixville, PA’s blobfest is a weekend-long celebration of monster and cult cinema. this year’s theme was “clash of the kaiju” and featured double bill showings of the blob with “mothra”, “king kong vs. godzilla”, and “the giant spider”.

the remainder of my new kaiju-centric “1961” screenprints (as well as the special online-only variant edition) will go on sale tuesday, july 15 at a random time in the strongstuff shop.

mondo : robocop

mondo offered me the opportunity to create a poster for one of my all-time favorite movies, robocop.

like so many other folks of my generation, the film’s mix of ultra-violence and biting satire made an indelible impression on my young self and the flawless designs of robocop and ed-209 inspire my imagination even to this day.

“your move, creep.”

petersen automotive museum : mustangs forever

i had the privilege of working on another exhibit poster for the petersen automotive museum. their newest show, “mustangs forever”, celebrates the iconic car’s 50th anniversary.

from the petersen website:

“few cars have captured the hearts of enthusiasts worldwide like the ford mustang. Introduced at the 1964 new york world’s fair, the mustang helped define automotive youth culture in america and was so eagerly embraced by the buying public that it quickly shattered all sales records. whether outfitted for performance, luxury, or economy, the mustang’s identity has remained strong and consistent in a way that has stood the test of time.”

looking forward to checking this one out while in LA later this year.

“mustangs forever” is currently open and runs through october 18, 2014.

primus : knoxville, tn

i had the privilege of illustrating a gig poster for primus‘ spring 2014 tour stop in knoxville, tennessee.

is there a better opportunity to draw a transforming pink cadillac with the head of elvis presley being piloted by les claypool?

arctic monkeys

beyond the pale recently provided me the opportunity to design a pair of interlocking gig posters for arctic monkeys.

this was a fun assignment. band management wanted something “hip, sexy, and cool”, which allowed me to step outside of my “robots, monsters, and aliens” wheelhouse and apply my style to a bit different subject matter.

the posters (and their variants) will cover a series of dates on this leg of the monkeys’ tour. click here to purchase.
