gallery 1988 : mattel : he-man and the masters of the universe

1980′s animation and toys hold a special place in my heart, so when dave perillo asked me to be a part of the mattel-sponsored show he curated at gallery 1988, i couldn’t agree quickly enough.

i’ve long loved all aspects of “masters of the universe”, from the insane host of characters the toy line had to offer to the psychedelic, wholesome fun the filmation animated series presented. such a blast to be able to travel back to one of my favorite universes.

the mattel show kicks off at 7PM gallery 1988 this friday, august 14. prints will be available first at the opening and then online.

springing forth from the info•rama gallery show that kevin tong and i collaborated on in august of 2014, kevin is rolling the idea into a full-fledged brand. new posters from every corner of the info-verse will be coming down the pike from a plethora of talented artists/illustrators/designers.

nautilus art prints : mon oncle

kudos to nautilus art prints for offering me an assignment that forced me outside of my wheelhouse.

despite being wildly popular in europe, jacques tati‘s films had never pinged on my radar. having no background with the films, nautilus owners jack and laurent suggested i tackle “mon oncle”, one of the most revered and visually rich in tati’s canon. jumping into a pop culture property with zero prior knowledge of the subject was a unique and refreshing experience. i hope that experience shows in the final print.

all editions go on sale 5/1 in the nautilus art prints shop.

mondo gallery : pulp menagerie

i’m beyond excited to show the first specimens from “pulp menagerie”, my new solo show at the mondo gallery in austin, tx.

the term “pulp menagerie” speaks to the varied subject matter on exhibit. the pieces are akin to the diverse, exotic creatures and curiosities that were captured, groomed and showcased in the royal menageries of the middle ages. also featured will be some truly unique in-gallery visuals that ascend the theme to a new dimension, so stay tuned.

i’ll be at the opening reception on may 22 and look forward to meeting many of you fine folks in person. can’t wait.
